Main chemical components: eugenol, beta-pinene, beta-caryophyllene, cinnamyl acetate, benzyl benzoate, linalool, cinnamyl alcohol.

Indications: infections of mouth, enterocolitis, urogenital infections, HPV infections. Cinnamon leaf essential oil (Cinnamomum verum J. Presl (=C. zeylanicum Nees) Lauraceae), unlike cinnamon bark is less irritating because it contains only small quantities of cinnamaldehyde (up to 2%). Due to content of phenol (eugenol), as well as oil derived from bark, it has beneficial effect against pathogenic bacteria, fungi and viruses. It has immunostimulating effect by increasing production of immunoglobulin A which protects mucosa in the body (including respiratory and intestinal mucosa). It contains up to 85% of phenol eugenol, aromatic alcohol of cinamol up to 7%, β-caryophyllene and esters such as benzyl benzoate.

Rosemary

Family: Lamiaceae.

Effects and indications: leaf contains one to 2,5% of essential oil which is not an active component. There are three to four chemotypes of the essential oil.

These are:
  • cineole chemotype (grows in North Africa)
  • chemotype verbenon/bornyl acetate (coming from Corsica)
  • camphor chemotype (typical for Dalmatia)
  • chemotype ß-myrcene / camphor (rosemary from some locations of Atlantic Ocean coast). Rosemary verbenon is used in cosmetics while the others are avoided. The best analgesic is rosemary camphor.
